More Things To Do On A Road Trip With Your Boyfriend

You’ll probably reach a point in your road trip when you need a break from asking each other questions, and that’s OK! But that doesn’t mean there aren’t other things you can do to make the time pass.

Road trip games

There are so many options for games to play on a car ride.

You can go with some classics like the License Plate Game, I Spy, The Alphabet Game, Three Truths and a Lie, 21 Questions, and Punch Buggy.

There are also lots of new games out there. Here are some great options for couples:

Audiobooks

When you’ve got a really long driving day, an audiobook can be a great option to keep you entertained.

Consider using Audible to find a book or check out your local library and see if they offer audiobooks.

Podcasts

For shorter trips, podcasts are always a good choice. See if you can find a topic you both enjoy and discover something new.

Plan fun stops

They say the journey is more important than the destination, but sometimes having a destination creates anticipation and makes the journey more enjoyable.

Try to plan a couple of fun stops each day to break up the driving and spark more road trip conversation.

It doesn’t have to be big or cost anything. Maybe there’s a weird roadside attraction where you can take a fun photo, or maybe you see a sign advertising a funky store you want to check out.

Having something little to look forward to can break up a long drive into more manageable sections and make the whole day more fun.

Have a picnic

Don’t just go through the fast-food drive-thru and scarf down a burger in your car. Plan a little picnic for your lunch break and take the time to stretch your legs and relax.

Do a photoshoot

Take advantage of any gorgeous scenery or unique backdrops you come across and do a little photoshoot with your partner.

It doesn’t have to be fancy or professional – just snap a few candids and have some fun for a few minutes to breathe some fresh air and enjoy each other’s company.

Guess that song

See how well you know each other’s music by taking turns playing a song and seeing if the other person knows it!

What To Pack For A Road Trip With Your Boyfriend

Traveling with another person definitely has its advantages, but there are still some things you should bring along to make the trip as smooth as possible. Here are some ideas for your road trip packing list.

Roadside emergency kit

Nobody expects issues to arise when you are on a trip, but they can happen to anyone at any time. There are certain items you should keep in your car just in case something does occur:

  • Spare tire & jack
  • Jumper cables or portable car battery
  • Portable air compressor
  • Flare/cones & reflective vest
  • Flashlight with extra batteries
  • Phone charger
  • Blanket
  • First aid kit
  • Water and food
  • Car manual

If you don’t have any (or most) of these items, I’d recommend getting a pre-built kit like this one and then adding in the additional items you need.

Food and drinks

Nobody wants to find out their partner gets hangry while they are on vacation.

Always keep a few snacks on hand for in between your meals, and also make sure you stay hydrated by keeping lots of water in the car as well.

Paper towels & hand sanitizer

Nothing can ruin a trip faster than spilling soda all over your boyfriend’s car…and then having nothing to clean it up.

Keep some paper towels or napkins with you for those “uh-oh” moments.

These also come in handy for other “uh-oh” moments…like needing to pee really bad but having no bathroom in sight except the woods.

Just make sure you pack out and dispose of any used items…don’t leave them in the woods or in a parking lot.

Blankets

You should always keep a blanket in your car for emergencies, but you can also use it for taking a nap in the back seat (if you are lucky enough to be able to do so) and also in case you find yourself riding with someone who is always hot and blasting the A/C…even in the winter.

Phone GPS has come a long way, but it shouldn’t be your only navigation option.

I recommend keeping a road atlas in your car just in case. You don’t want a trip to go sour because your phone broke and suddenly you have no clue how you are going to get to your destination.
